Hello everyone! January is a month where most of us begin to feel the chill of Winter settling in for awhile. There are some animals that change in Winter to adapt.

I've made a list of animals and attributes they do to adapt to enduring Winter. You need to match which animal and attribute go together.

A. Arctic Fox

1. I have a warm lodge hidden beneath the water.

B. Skunk

2. I have two coats and a thick down that covers my feet and provides a "snowshoe" effect.

C. Beaver

3. I go into a "regulated hypothermia".

4. I'm pretty active but I go in my den when it's too cold and just sleep.

E. Frog

5. I have only about a 1/2 inch of fat, so I have to swim off to Florida's Gulf Coast.

6. I go into a state of "torpor" where I am able to live off the fat stored in my body.

G. Raccoon

7. I bury myself deep in the water within the mud.

H. Ptarmigan

8. My fur turns white to blend into the snow for protection.

I. Chickadee

9. I migrate south, especially settling in Mexico.

J. Manatee

10. I grow a longer coat of hair, which is hollow inside, to keep me warm.
